Spanish rider Jorge Martín won the 2024 French Grand Prix after great performance.
The winner of Saturday's sprint, Jorge Martín fought a fierce battle with his rival Francesco Bagnaia throughout the race. However, Marc Marquez, starting from 13th on the grid, eventually overtook Bagnaia to take second place.
Martin, riding for Pramac Ducati, now leads the standings with 129 points, 38 ahead of Bagnaia, who now occupies second place.
Despite starting from pole position at Le Mans, Martin was unable to take advantage of his advantage and was passed by Bagnaia on the opening lap. The two drivers stayed close throughout the race, battling wheel-to-wheel.
Bagnaia on the factory Ducati fended off numerous attacks from Martin for a long time, only succumbing to them shortly before the end. Despite his efforts to regain the lead, however, Bagnaia faced increasing pressure from Marquez.
Despite previous injuries and vision problems, Marquez showed remarkable determination and pace. He passed Bagnaia on the final lap and secured another valuable second place, which moved him up to third overall.
The day thus proved to be a disappointing one for defending champion Bagnaiu, who narrowly missed out on victory and ultimately had to settle for the final spot on the podium.
